Your driving test: The key to good driving is to....

Watch, Anticipate and Plan….Well Ahead!!

You should aim to drive with the Confidence of a qualified, more experienced driver, but….

Keep to the speed limit, use your indicators, choose the correct lane on roundabouts, keep your distance from the vehicle ahead of you, adjust your driving to suit the prevailing weather and traffic conditions, check your mirrors frequently, drive within the law and rules of the Highway Code, don’t show off!

Remember that indecision can lead to accidents. If you don’t know what you’re going to do next, then it becomes very difficult for those around you to try and predict what you’re going to do next. Likewise, when you’re driving along you’re trying to predict what the other roadusers are planning to do next, so if they aren’t sure, it makes your decision even more important that it is the correct and safest option.

The driving test examiner is looking for four main things:

  • You are SAFE to Yourself
  • You are SAFE to other road-users
  • You have your vehicle under your CONTROL
  • You are driving legally

I think Martin’s book is perfect for any driver, even those that have passed their test

It is structured in a very logical and chronological order starting with the basics and moving through to more complex topics making it the perfect book for any driver at any level. The clear diagrams and explanations are also very useful in terms of enhancing understanding and slowly building knowledge. I recommend this book to anyone wishing to pass their test first time.
